Internal Misogyny

Written by Mridula Bharati

Each and every person around the world, at some point in time, faces internal misogyny. But do we exactly know what it is?

The undermining act or idea enforced by a woman upon another woman or even onto themselves is internal misogyny.

The preconception of women needing to act in a certain way or follow stereotypes have their root cause to be that children at a very young age are taught about the differences between girls and boys that certainly don’t have a logical existence.

Fanciful things like toys, fabrics and even games are differentiated and seldom leads to the idea of gender discrimination.

Women or girls who face internalized misogyny may express it through minimizing their value, distrusting people around, being detached from all valuables, and many more ways.

How do you stop this sexism in your society?

We all know misogyny in the feminine community is hindering peace in society. And now we need a solution to this.

We should always love and appreciate ourselves, improvise daily and greet and meet anyone around. Moreover, loving your surroundings and people is equally as important as self-love. We shouldn't discriminate. Society needs to learn to value each and everyone regardless of societal barriers. There are many ways to affirm your friends or women around you. Sometimes all you need is a little support from someone or someone who quests for it. So just by a little support or advice too, misogyny can be combated.

Also always look at the bright side of yourself as well as other girls, women or anybody. We all should also inculcate in ourselves positive thinking.

“The one who sees the beauty in others is the most beautiful person”
